Will Citrix work with a satellite Internet connection?

After research and working extensively with users, we have realized that we cannot reliably connect users with a satellite Internet connection(e.g. Hughes Net, Wild Blue) reliably to F.R.E.D. This is primarily due to the latency(lag time) caused by the signal going out into space and back while communicating between the server and the client.

Citrix is the technology that allows communication between our database, F.R.E.D. , and remote users. Citrix relies heavily on a quick Internet connection. Network delays cause missed connections and disconnections.

Between the satellite latency and other network situations beyond our control (e.g.wireless home networking, ISP issues) it is impossible for us to control the variable to work within the limits required by Citrix.

How do you adjust the Windows size in Citrix?

Open up your Citrix Program Neighborhood and right click on the icon you use to connect to Filemaker.
Right click on the icon and select custom connection setting
Select the default option. And you can adjust your windows size and color to your liking.

Trouble Printing in Citrix?

Here is some steps to help troubleshoot your printing issue.

  1. Install the latest Citrix client of 10.x.
    1. Here is the link for the windows client.
  1. Install the latest printer driver. 
    1. You have to figure which website to go to. 
  2. When emailing or calling please let me know when you are connecting to your printer locally or thru the network. 
    1. Local printers are easier to fix than a remote printer.
  1. Uninstall unused or network printer you are not using.
    1. Every printer in your printer list will cause Citrix to install a driver for it

  2. Please let us know what OS you are using.  The new printer improvement mostly affects people that have the latest Windows Citrix client install on their machine.  Most of the improvement to printing functionality is only available in the Windows environment.  All others require installation of a standard driver.
